Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti / Kore Timoun aims to improve health and wellness of children under 5 through community based prevention and management of malnutrition in Léogâne, Haïti. Our programs address a wide range of factors promoting nutrition and supporting sustainable livelihoods in both rural and urban communities, including maternal child health, community empowerment, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
The Maternal Child Health (MCH) Fellow works with a strong team both in Haiti and Chattanooga, TN, to actively help fulfill the vision, mission and activities of the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti (CNP)/Kore Timoun. S/he is primarily responsible, with support and supervision from the Country Program Director and Executive Director, for ensuring that the objectives and responsibilities outlined below are accomplished and meet the highest professional and ethical standards.
The MCH Fellowship focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes through our community programs. Working together with the Programs Manager and monitrices (community health workers), the Fellow will develop and implement projects for pregnant and lactating women such as breast feeding support, prenatal care, and family planning. Additionally, the Fellow works with Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) to emphasis the role of children’s nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life (from conception to 2 years).
The MCH Fellow is based in Léogâne, Haiti, and reports to the Country Program Director. This position will require a minimum of 40 hours a week Monday through Friday with occasional weekends. Office hours for fellows are between 8:00am and 4:30pm, with flexible hours in the field.

Core Objectives & Responsibilities
Project Development & Management• Identify unmet needs for MCH health in the region • Develop projects utilizing evidence based interventions to improve maternal child health • Work closely with program staff and monitrices to increase breastfeeding support and access to prenatal care • Seek new funding opportunities and strategic partnerships • Collect data for monitoring and evaluation
Health Promotion• Develop health education materials and curriculum for pregnant and lactating women • Provide training to monitrices and community health groups • Support on-going community based activities

· One week Kreyòl language study at the beginning of the fellowship
· Transportation provided for a monthly Fellows Group Excursion
• 24 hour security of residence/office.
**Fellow is responsible for providing travel to and from Haiti, medical evacuation insurance and health insurance, and any personal expenses that are incurred **
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Proficient in English, French and/or Creole. Previous experience in health promotion, program development, and project management. Master’s in public health, international development, or a clinical field preferred.
Length of Commitment: 12 months
