Haiti: Operations specialist

Chemonics seeks an operations specialist for the recently awarded USAID Reforestation Project (URP). URP is a five-year, $40 million cooperative agreement, based in Cap Haïtien, focused on addressing environmental degradation and loss of tree cover in the northern region of Haiti. The project will support interventions to: reduce the threat of deforestation, improve resilience to economic and natural shocks, increase tree cover in targeted areas, and improve environmental governance and coordination. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure efficient day-to-day project operations, including procurement, grants, logistics, finance, and compliance
  • Supervise a nine-person operations team to provide oversight for overall operations of the project and guidance on USAID and Chemonics policies
  • Oversee more than $10 million in sub-awards and possess significant grants management experience as well as USAID program financial management experience
  • Foster and demonstrate a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovating, and exceeding expectations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, or related field required
  • At least five years of experience in operational management, including procurement, finance, grants, logistics, compliance, and overall operational supervision, of large-scale, complex, international development assistance programs
  • Field operations leadership experience preferred
  • At least three years of field operations experience, preferably on a program of similar size and with a grants portfolio
  • Graduate of the Chemonics' Grants Management Practicum or significant grants management experience required
  • Proficiency in USAID regulations, experience with cooperative agreements preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Haitian context
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and French; spoken Haitian Kreyol a plus
