Job Description

Job Overview: The IRC is in early stages of developing and designing its technical offerings in Europe. The Senior Integration Specialist will support the EURITA project, which aims to deliver high-quality and innovative technical assistance to help European countries develop improved resettlement and integration strategies and tools, based on U.S. best practices. This project ends in May 2019 and is funded through Department of State monies intended to be used in and to benefit citizens of the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and, Uzbekistan. An important component of the Coordinator role will be to explore opportunities to build sustainability by securing post-project European funding in order to build on the foundations laid by EURITA project.

Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1 Work closely with Brussels, London, Geneva and Germany -based advocacy staff to further resettlement and integration policy change goals and ensure they build on program experience and learning; build relationships with other EU-funds integration/resettlement focused projects 2 Produce external-facing briefing papers and other materials that will support business development and advocacy objectives in the region. 3 Support efforts to secure new funding to support program expansion in the field of early integration in Europe - from public/statutory or private donors. 4 Represent the EURITA project in Europe at the direction of the EURITA Project Director and the DRDP. Grow relationships with workshop participants; identify and respond to technical support requests; support the planning to ensure workshops are contextually relevant; 5 Support the EURITA Project Director in the development and the delivery of all distance learning activities (website content, webinars, e-learning modules), serve as the co-facilitator/trainer for EURITA workshops, and provide in-country technical assistance for EURITA participant countries on request. 6 Support the establishment, growth and then manage a roster of integration/resettlement experts for use in IRC's programs and technical assistance offerings to local stakeholders in Europe. 7 Support the design and delivery, and then subsequently manage, an online platform for IRC's technical offerings on integration for Europe practitioners.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required, advanced degree a plus;
  • Minimum five years U.S. resettlement experience at the managerial level.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the US Refugee Admissions Program required, integration experience in Europe desired;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners in English;
  • Solid diplomatic and networking skills: the ability to effectively manage a variety of internal and external relationships, including relationships with donors and government officials;
  • Proven training and facilitation skills: the ability to conduct workshops and learning activities in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual setting;
  • Responsibility for functionality and content posting for website;
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
  • Solid computer skills: facility with Microsoft Office, and email/internet software.
  • Ability to operate within strict budget and accounting requirements.
  • The right to live and work inside the European Union is a strong advantage
